Bio
Christine creates new ventures, connects people, researches and writes, consults and speaks on social media, startup life, sustainability and human potential. Working with boards and executive teams, she provides strategic and tactical support to growing organizations, as a board member, interim executive or consultant, often bringing in great teams of technologists, developers, ops and sales talent, marketers, designers and content developers where needed.
Start Up Life: Since 1998, as a company founder and CEO, Christine has built online companies from a blank sheet of paper to millions of dollars in recurring revenues. She cofounded Socialogue, which provides a cloud social metrics product, Christine founded and served as CEO and board member at venture-backed SpringCM, the leading cloud provider of Enterprise Content Management (named to Gartner’s Magic Quadrant in January, 2010). She served on the board of MSDSOnline, an online subscription provider of compliance information, and was the founding CEO at Intellext, a contextual search technology spun out of Northwestern University. She was interim CEO of YogaEd, and interim COO of Mota. She was a cofounder at LeadAmerica and MetalMaker, and taught New Venture Creation at the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. She also advised Startup Nation, and is a recurring contributor to Portfolio.com.
Social Media: Christine loves the social web- especially it’s social and political transformative power. These technologies move information from person to person at an unimagined pace, and can change the direction and flow of information to make people-centric change real. For organizations, it can create a new way to listen and engage with the natural community, and when done right, to enhance brand loyalty. For entrepreneurs and activist, social media is a great equalizer- instant and ongoing access to a natural, interested online audience. She designed and launched Socialogue, a complete social media analytics, publishing and sentiment monitoring service online. In addition, she has seeded a half dozen social networks on behalf of clients and non-profits, inluding ReSeed California, the winner of the 2009 SunTzu Award from the Sierra Nevada Alliance, and WiredSonoma.com, a community organization aimed at helping connect entrepreneurs and digital creatives in the Sonoma Valley.
Sustainability: Christine has been featured in national and local publications, as well as on radio and television, discussing sustainability and the new, green American householder. She is the founder of GoGreenOnline.com and GoGreenTV, communities aimed at creating pro-environmental habit change among mainstream Americans
Strategist: In addition to her own companies, in the past 20 years, she has worked with global organizations, such as Nabisco, Omnexus, Texas Pacific Group, and Alcoa, as well as the many European clients, to open new markets or solve strategy challenges. During her early career, she worked in Mergers and Acquisitions for a global consulting firm. She has also advised other startups, including Mota, YogaEd, Mobitrac, StarThis and many others.
Yoga and Human Potential: Christine has been studying yoga, spiritual development, and consciousness since 1999. In addition to a personal practice, she has trained with Eddie Modestini and Nicki Doane (200 hour teacher training), Rod Stryker (Teacher training levels I and II), Baron Baptiste (Teacher Training Level I), and taken continuing education workshops with Mark Whitwell, Ana Forrest, Glenn Back and Shiva Rea. She has completed courses in Thai Massage, Yoga anatomy and Kirtan/Yoga of Sound, as well as sutra studies and elementary Sanskrit. She teaches strong flow and partner yoga. In 2008, she assisted Mark Whitwell with the Heart of Yoga Peace Project, which supports peace teaching through internal transformation by providing online resources and classes, and funding teachers in conflict zones. She supports Esalen, known as the birthplace of the Human Potential Movement, and is on the Multimedia team for the Santa Rosa Center for Spiritual Living. She founded LoveSpring, a supper club dedicated to emotional and spiritual health.
Education
Christine holds a MBA from the JL Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a BA from Northwestern University in political science, with a senior thesis in Arab Nationalism. She served in the US Army ROTC program through the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. She has lived and traveled all over the world, and speaks French and German, and a smattering of other languages.
Christine has received recognition for her leadership and contributions in technology, marketing, entrepreneurship and community service.
